Kazakhstan exhibition company Iteca with the support of the Ministry of Health, SC Pharmacy LLP and industry associations will organize the 2nd Kazakhstan International Exhibition of Equipment, Ingredients & Technologies for Pharmaceutical Industry - PharmaTECH Kazakhstan 2025 on May, 2025 in Almaty.
The pharmaceutical market of Kazakhstan is one of the most rapidly developing sectors within the Eurasian region, demonstrating stable growth. Thanks to effective state support measures, the country's pharmaceutical industry now holds significant potential for profitable investments. As noted by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his Message to the People of Kazakhstan, titled «Unity of the People and Systemic Reforms – The Solid Foundation for the Country's Prosperity», an important national security concern is the increase in the share of domestically produced medicines and medical devices, which is set to reach 50% by 2025.
A key trend in the sector is the growing production and consumption of pharmaceutical products. Over the past six months, foreign pharmaceutical imports into Kazakhstan have exceeded USD 1 billion ($1.06 billion). The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MoH RK) continues to actively implement measures to support domestic producers and enhance the investment appeal of the sector. Currently, 193 domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers operate in the country. According to the Ministry's report, by the end of 2024, the production volume of local pharmaceutical products has increased to 124 billion tenge (over $238 million), reflecting an 18% growth.
The MoH RK is also making significant progress in the localization of original and innovative drug production within domestic enterprises. Agreements have been signed with global pharmaceutical giants such as Pfizer, Roche, and AstraZeneca, all of which plan to produce and supply their medications within Kazakhstan. For instance, Pfizer is set to produce a 20-valent pneumococcal vaccine, while Roche will manufacture breast cancer treatments. In addition, ongoing discussions are being held with other major companies, including Novo Nordisk, Bayer, and Johnson & Johnson.
PharmaTECH Kazakhstan exhibition will contribute to establishing cooperation with global pharmaceutical corporations, attracting investments in the development of pharmaceutical production in Kazakhstan, increasing the export potential of domestic pharmaceutical products, increasing scientific and human resources, expanding the volume and nomenclature of offtake contracts with domestic manufacturers.
Sections of the exhibition cover whole process of pharmaceutical production — from project development and equipment supplies to raw materials, packaging and transportation of finished products.
Local and foreign companies providing integrated solutions for pharmaceutical enterprises, manufacturers and suppliers of packaging and labeling equipment, raw materials and ingredients are invited to participate in the exhibition.
